My dog felt comfortable in the bag after lots of exposure and positive conditioning. The zips and materials are strong and heavy duty. We wore the back pack on the front so we could see the dog all the time and she was happy and it comes with a strap to tie the dog to. It was easy to put on and lift with the arm straps. I was just unsure for the reason for the partial cover on the top.
