Normal Delivery Guidelines

Domestic Shipping

Modern Pets offers free domestic shipping¹ on orders over $99 to most metro cities and major regional centres across Australia (excluding oversized items²). Use the shipping calculator on each product page to check if your suburb qualifies for free shipping.

If free shipping doesn’t apply, the shipping cost will be calculated based on your order’s weight and location. You’ll be able to view the shipping cost through the calculator and at checkout before proceeding to payment.

We regret that our warehouse is not accessible to the public. As such, we do not offer a pick-up option. Your order will generally be shipped from our distribution centre, which is located in Melbourne, within 1-2 working days of receiving payment excluding public holidays & weekends.

Most of our parcels are delivered by Australia Post, although we occasionally partner with other couriers to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery. For next-day delivery³, please select Express Shipping at checkout. Please note that this service isn’t available for all products, and delivery times begin once the parcel has been collected.

Please refer below for estimated delivery times for Standard Shipping:

  • Metro Melbourne: 2–5 business days
  • Other cities and large towns in VIC (from Melbourne): 3–6 business days
  • Metro Sydney: 3–7 business days
  • Other interstate locations (from Melbourne): 4–14 business days

For personalised products, please allow an additional 2 business days, as each item is made to order.

Our default shipping method is Authority to Leave. If you prefer a Signature on Delivery, please select this option at checkout. With the Signature Required option, if no one is home, your parcel will be taken to your local Post Office for collection. Please note that Australia Post no longer leaves calling cards - you’ll need to track your delivery using the provided tracking number or the Australia Post app. We recommend being home on delivery days, as re-delivery attempts may incur additional fees.

If your order has multiple cartons, these may be delivered separately. Please check your tracking number to see how many cartons to expect.

International Shipping

International orders are currently accepted for New Zealand only.

Each country has different laws regarding imports from abroad and you may be required to pay additional fees on delivery such as customs clearance charges, duties and taxes. Our shipping rate covers door to door delivery only and does not include import fees if applicable.

1Free domestic shipping means the cost of shipping is built into the price of the item, so delivery costs may still be deducted from refunds for returned items. For more information about our refunds policy please visit here.

2Oversized items are products that exceed the maximum weight and size requirements by Australia Post and can only be transported via courier. Shipping for oversized products is free only for Melbourne customers. You can see the shipping cost to your suburb before placing your order via the shipping calculator. The shipping calculator can be found on the product page and cart page.

3Next business day delivery is only available within the Express Post next business day delivery network. The national next business day delivery network operates between capital cities (excluding Darwin; and for Perth, delivery into the CBD only) and some major centres.
