Beautifully designed stroller... beautifully constructed.
It has some drawbacks:
1) Not big enough for a medium sized German Shepherd female of only 30kg as the stroller is too short... most dogs have long bodies and so an extra 150mm minimum is necessary. Even when she sits the canopy has to be folded up near handlebars.
2) As my medium sized dog is too big for this Grand Cruiser, we have to keep the canopy of the stroller up - a great option, allows for clear vision - but then the old girl falls off the side of the stroller. Generally an old dog (or even one recovering from surgery) needs to lay down and I will need to find something like a bolster to keep her from rolling off the sides.
3) The bed is actually a little slippery for an old dog. But I have folded a dog futon in half to put onto it.
4) The ramp is a must... because an old dog needs a backrest. Without the ramp, as the support, the weight of the dog on the back canvas area is a massive problem... The strain could split the zippers and her rear ended up in the gap that was created between the bed and bulging canvas ... The ramp serves to stop this.
5) Mind you the ramp has proved to be very helpful - more than I anticipated and it has a good no- slip surface on which dogs will not slip.
* Would I have purchased it knowing all the above... well, yes as there is nothing else on the market that is quality and can support the weight and is easily collapsable.
* Would it be worthwhile for Ibiyaya to design a longer stroller - YES (it could be slightly narrower if you keep in mind a dog is MUCH longer than it is wide and this would reduce the overall weight of the stroller)
Unfortunately when my male Swiss Shepherd of 40kg is elderly, there is no way he will be able to fit on to the Grand Cruiser.
* Ibiyaya need to realise the length of a large dog's body and it's head height cannot possibly fit into the Grand Cruiser - fortunate that the canopy folds up.
It is a wonderful 5 star design for kelpie sized dogs.
Pictures show that the girl is medium-sized dog and not a large dog... and that she needs to rest on one side when laying down (to protect a sore hip).
I bought this pram for my dog walking business so we could provide services for elderly, disabled, and injured dogs of most sizes. I've used it with my own elderly dog multiple times to test it and it has been great. A little bulky (by a little I mean very), it only just fits through a standard door and I have to take the wheels off for it to fit in my medium sized car. But it pops up quickly. Rolls well, but I imagine it would be difficult to push with a large dog in it up any sort of hill. My 15kg dog made small hills and uneven surfaces a bit tricky. We will be sticking to flat, paved areas for our walks with it. Quality seems good - I have photos and videos using it on my insta @nrdogwalking
This stroller is five star quality however for a large dog the base needs to be longer, 15cm would make a world of difference. Excellent service from Modern Pets.
What I like: very solidly built and easy to assemble and disassemble. Stable and easy for elderly dog to get in and out of. Fixed mat provides ample padding. Easy to steer, push and foot brake works well (back wheels only). Being able to completely open the top assisted with conditioning my dog to get used to getting on and off the stroller and being on/in what is a small space for him. It is well constructed and able to take him lying against the sides, which he needs to do to fit.
What could be better: the length of the base. My dog is a Gordon Setter and he can't fit without dangling over the ends. That means he is unable to completely relax in a comfortable position and his paws and head risk getting in the way of the wheels. (That said it was the largest I could find readily available in Australia and given the base is flat at the front, plus with the front wheel attachments extending beyond the base I have improvised a bit more length and a head/foot rest by attaching a foam roller.) With a large dog and weight at the front of the stroller it can be hard to hold in a straight line on a path with a camber. We need to use it on relatively flat walks, too much of a hill/slope and my dog feels insecure which I think has to do with dangling over the ends of the base. Being black the stroller does get hot on a sunny day.
Overall very glad I got it. With my dog being older having it means we can go for walks again. He lets me know when he wants to hop in for a rest or get out for a walk.
