Cat Litter Type

The Moderna Lift-to-Sift litter tray has been designed to work with various types of clumping litter with suitable size and weight of particle. The sifting holes are approx 5mm wide and vary in length from 15mm to 65mm. Wood and paper based litters are not suitable as the particles are too large or lightweight to pass through the sifter. Michu Tofu Natural Clumping Cat Litter is a good choice for this litter tray as well as a large variety of other clumping litters on the market. As a large variety of clumping litters are suitable, you have the flexibility to choose one to suit your cat's and your budget.

Warranty Policy

Modern Pets offers free domestic shipping on orders over $99 to most metro cities and major regional centres across Australia (excluding oversized items). Please enter your suburb/ postcode above to check the shipping cost (if applicable) and estimated delivery date. Orders are typically dispatched from our Melbourne distribution centre within 1–2 business days.

Most parcels are delivered by Australia Post, though we occasionally work with other couriers. The timing of your delivery will depend on the method you choose. For those who opt for Express post, you can expect your items to arrive the following day after shipping.

Estimated delivery times for Standard Shipping:

Metro Melbourne: 2–5 business days
Other cities and large towns in VIC: 3–6 business days
Metro Sydney: 3–7 business days
Other interstate locations: 4–14 business days

The default shipping method is Signature Required (SR), unless Authority to Leave (ATL) is selected at checkout. If no one is home with SR, parcels will be taken to your local Post Office. If ATL is selected, we are not responsible for replacement costs if the parcel goes missing.

I’m not sure who this is designed for

Based solely on the design and concept of “sifting” this doesn’t work. If you were to get a good sifting motion your litter would actually end up everywhere outside of the box.

Side note if you’re trying to use this for wood pellets(which I was) the pellets and wet broken up saw dust both get stuck in the holes, creating more of a mess. And more work.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We understand your concern and would like to clarify the proper technique for sifting. There are two ways to sift without litter spilling outside the box:
1. Use an up-and-down sifting motion rather than a side-to-side motion; or
2. Raise the sifter slightly above the solid tray so that the bottom of the sifter remains no higher than the tray walls, then sift side to side. As the sifter knocks against the tray walls, the litter will more easily fall through.
Please note that the sifter should only be used for cleaning and not for holding litter during everyday use. Additionally, this tray works best with clumping litter. Wood pellets, due to their size, can become stuck in the sifter, which may cause damage when trying to remove them.
